Saint Rita Church – Camurlim Bardez Goa, which is set in the backdrop of lush green paddy fields. It is a very picturesque village that lies in the northern district of Bardez Goa.

The closest town is Mapusa, which is around 8kms to the South of the village. Above all, the villages that surround Camurlim are, Colvale in the east, Oxel and Siolim in the west, Tuem in the north, and Cunchelim & Sodiem in the south. Therefore, the river Chapora also flows along with the village.

 

Saint Rita Church – Camurlim Bardez Goa, the church is situated on a hilltop surrounded by lush green hills and mystified quietness.

Moreover, St. Rita of Cassia Church was originally a chapel founded in 1786. Further, later in the year 1944, it was elevated to a full-fledged parish. The chapel was rebuilt in the year 1912.

The feast of this Church is celebrated on Sunday on or after the 13th of May every year.

For instance, she was a  saint who is often portrayed with a bleeding wound on her forehead. Moreover, which is understood to indicate partial stigmata. A saint is known for sterility, abuse victims, loneliness, marriage difficulties, parenthood, widows, the sick, bodily ills, and wounds, a saint of the impossible.

Canonized: by Pope Leo Xlll on May 24, 1900

However, when she was meditating before an image of Christ crucified, suddenly a small wound appeared on her forehead. As if a thorn from Christ’s crown had pierced her. Importantly, even so, after exhuming her body thrice, the wound would remain the same glistening light reflecting from the drops of blood.

For instance, various miracles are attributed to her intercession. St. Rita was born in the year 1381 near Italy and died in the year 1457. While Her incorrupt body remains in the Basilica of Santa Rita Da Cascia.

Meanwhile, the day after her baptism, St. Rita was surrounded by a swarm of white bees, which went in and out of her infant’s mouth without hurting her. To sum up, in the local dialect, her name meant “pearl,”.
