Goa depends mainly on international tourists to sustain its tourism industry. Goa is a fun place for people from all over the world. Foreigners come here to swim in the beautiful ocean, learn about the special things Goa does, and feel the warm sun. They like to stay for a long time when it’s cold in their countries.

Indians also visit Goa for short trips or holidays. They like to see old churches, temples, and shops, and of course, they love the beach.

Both foreigners and Indians help Goa’s money grow. Foreigners stay longer and spend more money on hotels, food, and other fun things. This helps Goa’s businesses stay open.

Goa receives a high percentage of local tourists, these tourists can be divided into four categories:

Category 1:

Heavy spenders or what we call lavish traveler’s who normally stay in star hotels, so that’s around 30%

Category 2:

Moderate spenders who try to cost control with whatever they can that’s around 30%

Category 3:

Who comes to Goa with the minimum budget with their own ration and cook their own meals on the roadside, so that’s around 20%.

Category 4:

This traveler’s come to Goa with the sole intention of drinking as the drinks are cheaper compared to their home state’s these tourists are mainly from the neighboring states.

More people are visiting Goa now than before, but the kinds of people coming are changing. In 2023, many more foreigners came than the year before. But because of problems in Russia, Ukraine, Israel, and Palestine, fewer people from Europe are coming.

This is bad for Goa because they spend a lot of money.

Usually, Goa has many backpackers who stay in cheap places. They don’t spend as much money as people who stay in hotels. So, Goa is trying to get more people from India and other countries like Uzbekistan to visit.
