Pedda-Benaulim On Edge as Novelty Lighter Causes Gun Panic
Margao: Tension escalated in Pedda-Benaulim on Monday afternoon due to reports of illegal land filling. The Colva police intervened to control the situation, but no harmful incident occurred, and no case was registered, as confirmed by the Colva police.
According to sources, upon learning about the illegal land filling in Pedda-Benaulim, a group of concerned individuals gathered at the site and demanded explanations. This resulted in a brief argument as tempers rose.
Reportedly, someone allegedly displayed a fake gun to intimidate the villagers of Benaulim. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, the villagers immediately contacted the Colva Police, who promptly arrived at the scene and confiscated the item.
After verifying it, they confirmed that the alleged gun was actually a fake lighter.
The Police then returned the lighter to the villagers, assuring them that there was no real danger. When contacted for comment, the Colva police stated that the issue had been resolved peacefully, and no formal charges had been filed.
