The Magical Budbud Tali | The Bubble Lake | Netravali Bubble Lake – Sanguem Goa
The Bubble Lake, the mysterious heritage site is situated on the banks of the river Netravali in a small village in Sanguem taluka of South Goa.
This heritage site is known by names such as Budbud tali, the Bubble lake, and the Netravali Bubble lake.
A freshwater lake that gets water from the underground springs and to prevent water flow an outlet is provided for the excess water to flow out into the fields.
The lake is famous because of mysterious bubbles erupting from beneath the surface.
Once a clapping sound is heard on various sides of the lake bubbles erupt which is strange though.
Well, it’s a pond rather than a lake and tali means clap.
The place is surrounded by a temple of Gopinath Lord Krishna and hence it’s a very religious place. The lake seems like a bathing tank of the old Hindu Gopinath.
There are no timings as such therefore, anyone can visit between 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
The Bubble Lake or Budbud Lake
It’s a natural marvel, a mesmerizing sight for little children especially since the bubbles erupting one after another upon clapping.
This phenomenon is not clear still as to how the bubbles appear to rise upon hearing the claps. The locals have different stories to tell on the formation of these bubbles yet no scientific explanation is concrete.
The lake is a rectangular shape, it’s more of a pond with granite steps leading down and Tulsi plant located in the middle of it.
Beautification of the Lake by the Government of Goa
Certainly less known tourist spot but the government is working to popularize the site and has undertaken massive construction works such as developing by beautifying the surrounding area by road widening, providing ample parking space, placing street lights, masonry works, etc.
The Gopinath Temple
The temple is dedicated to Lord Gopinath the Lord of the Gopis. The original idol of the 14th century is now preserved in the Goa State Museum in Panjim.
This temple is rebuilt after it had been destroyed.
